When donating food items please remember that sometimes there are no
stoves or ovens available to cook on. Sometimes, not always, but
there may not be a refrigerator to store items in. And then of
course, items must fit inside a standard sized backpack and plastic
containers are preferred over glass. With that in mind
please limit food donations to items that do not need to be kept
cold and that could be prepared in either a small microwave or open
fire such as a barbeque. Here are a few examples:
- Boxed cereal
- Canned or dry evaporated milk
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned beans, peas, corn, etc
- Canned meat, tuna
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Crackers
- Macaroni and cheese, pastas
- Instant rice
- 12-64 fl oz fruit juice
- Energy bars, fruit roll-ups, etc
